Save The Date: AUCD Gala March 2, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

Save the Date for AUCD’s first annual fundraiser in DC.  In support of our strategic goals of raising the visibility of our network and diversifying our funding, AUCD is hosting a fundraiser on March 2, 2016 to help showcase the work of the network and broaden our financial support. Next year is also AUCD’s 45th anniversary as an organization, so we thought it was a good time to throw a party!

We have a great planning committee helping with the event, including Olivia Raynor, Karen Edwards and Celia Feinstein from the AUCD Board and a number of allies in the business, disability and broader policy communities.  Our committee strongly encouraged us not to try to tell the whole story of our network in one event, but instead to choose one area to highlight at a time.  As you can see, our first event will highlight the work that our UCEDDs, LENDs and IDDRCs are doing to promote a quality, inclusive education for all children and youth with disabilities.

In keeping with this theme, we will be honoring two partners who have done great work promoting educational excellence:  Wade Henderson, the President and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights; and the team behind Understood.org, an online campaign that educates individuals and families about how best to meet the needs of students who have learning and attention-related disabilities.

Please forward this Save the Date far and wide!  We will send electronic and paper invitations in early December, so please let me know if there are people who you would like to receive a hard copy invitation.  I look forward to seeing many of you at the AUCD annual conference in a few weeks, and am hoping many of you can make it back on March 2!

With warmest regards,

Andy
